How can i boost my energy?

Updated: May 9, 2021

Fat is energy dense so look to include healthful fats in your diet each day to increase satiety and to boost your energy levels. Nuts and seeds are energy dense so they are the perfect healthy go to for energy however they are also calorie dense so if you are looking to loose weight be strict with your portion size.

These cacao energy balls are easy to make and provide a great mid-morning nutrient rich energy boost. You can use this recipe for any type of nuts so experiment and let me know what you think.

These require zero cooking skills and that suits me fine. My cooking skills are limited so you have peace of mind that anything i post on here is going to be super easy. It might not always look as pretty as it could but i guarantee it will taste amazing!!

I love food and the benefits that come with eating a healthy balanced diet but it has to be straight forward and easy. These energy balls are ideal for a quick snack and require no cooking at all.

Only 4 ingredients and the food processor does all the work, perfect!

I found it worked better to add the dates a few at a time. You can add more cacao depending on how chocolatey you would like them to be. Try local raw or manuka honey.

They are quite sticky so i rolled them in desiccated coconut, chia seeds and i also tried blitzing some almonds and rolling them in that. These were actually my favourite!

If you pop them in the freezer they are just the right consistency. If you struggle with willpower then you might want to pop them in the outdoor freezer if you have one to make them slightly less accessible!

Making the balls is messy so get the children involved, they will absolutely love it.

Ingredients

1 cup of pecan nuts

2 cups of dates

2 tbsp honey

Coatings : desiccated coconut, chia seeds, ground almonds or choose your own.

Blend the pecans. Blend the dates adding a few at a time. Combine the two and blend again. Add the honey and cacao. Place the mixture in the fridge for 30 mins (this makes it easier to roll into balls). Use roughly a desert spoon full per ball. Roll the balls in a coating of your choice. The ground almonds were my favourite.

You can keep the energy balls in the fridge but i prefer mine in the freezer. They don’t actually freeze but it does make them a firmer consistency.

Cacao adds a bold chocolatey flavour without the added refined sugar and is rich in iron, magnesium, potassium and copper.

Which one was your favourite, coconut, chia or almond? ....
